Exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. People who exercise regularly are likely to live longer and enjoy a better quality of life. In fact, studies have shown that - in terms of lowering life expectancy - being physically unfit is just as dangerous as smoking or living in a smoke filled environment. Regular exercise also improves mental and emotional health. The chemicals and hormones - endorphins - that are released in the brain through exercise can help deal with stress and promote happiness. People often assume that more is better, but that is not the case: what is most important is the consistency of the exercise routine. In other words, if you take ten minutes of your time everyday to get some aerobics in, for instance, you will definitely see and feel the results as regular exercise produces results.

We can remain fit and healthy as long as we observe all the rules of health. Keeping our bodies toned and fit by doing various exercises on a regular basis, is a sure way to increase our chances of a longer, healthier lifespan. Physical fitness is a combination of qualities that enable a person to perform well in vigorous physical activities. These qualities include, agility, endurance, flexibility, and strength. There are different types of exercises. Endurance exercises include walking, cycling, running, and swimming. These activities, also called aerobic exercises, raise the rate of our heartbeat and breathing, and strengthen the circulatory, and respiratory systems. Flexibility exercises include bending, twisting, turning movements, which stretch the joints through a wide range of motions. These exercises cut the risk of injury from strenuous exercise, and reduce muscle soreness. They should be performed before and after each workout. Strength exercises include pullups, pushups, and exercises with weights. These exercises strengthen the arms and shoulders, and other muscular parts of our bodies.

Exercise is a powerful form of medicine capable of preventing and treating almost every form of illness. If each of us become more physically active our nation's health would also improve dramatically, as less money would be spent on diagnosing and treating illnesses as the need for treatment would be significantly less. So, make it a priority to seek out longevity. Exercise regularly, and sensibly. Here are ten things to do to ensure you exercise regularly.
